Role Description

This is a contract role for an Assistant Varsity Football Coach at The Roxbury Latin School located in Greater Boston. As an Assistant Varsity Football Coach, you will be responsible for supporting the head coach in all aspects of coaching the varsity football team. This includes assisting with practice planning, player development, game strategy, and providing mentorship and guidance to student-athletes. This is an on-site position that requires availability on weekdays and weekends during the football season. Applicant would also be asked to spend some time at the summer strength and conditioning sessions, in order to familiarize themselves with the school, the team, and the coaching staff, as well as be asked to meet over the spring and summer to strategize for the upcoming season.

Specifics

We are looking for an offensive line coach, with deep knowledge of the game and ambition to help build a program. Responsibilities would include running o-line indy, working pass pro, and helping install the run game and help create game plans on a weekly basis. Must be able to meet with the staff 3 days a week before or after practice. Start and end times of practices vary on a day to day basis, but align generally with a typical school day schedule. If you are an eager young coach who does not coach offensive line, but can help coach quarterbacks and running backs, this is also something we would consider if it turns out to be the right fit. This is a paid, contractual position that would last the duration of the 2024 football season, with the potential to be renewed on a yearly basis at the head coach's discretion. Payment to be determined by the athletics director and head of school, but compensation is very competitive.

Qualifications

• Experience playing and/or coaching football at the high school, college, or professional level
• Strong knowledge of football rules, strategies, and techniques
• Ability to communicate effectively and build positive relationships with student-athletes, coaches, and staff
• A commitment to the development of student-athletes on and off the field
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
• CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
• Ability to pass a background check

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience coaching at the high school or college level

and/OR Experience playing at the college level (young/new coaches with playing experience welcome to apply)

• Knowledge of strength and conditioning principles
• Experience working with diverse student populations
